As announced on Sep 11th 2008, our parent companies, Sony Corporation (Sony) and NEC Corporation (NEC) have signed an agreement to transfer NEC's 45% stock of Sony NEC Optiarc Inc. to Sony, and make it a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony group.

As a result of this agreement, Sony has made Sony NEC Optiarc a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Sony group, and in accordance with that, our company name has changed from "Sony NEC Optiarc Inc." to "Sony Optiarc Inc."

With the change, we would like to seek to strengthen our interaction with Sony's product and device businesses in order to further streamline decision-making processes and to enhance management responsiveness.
